in an atom, what does each of your fice pieces do? 1/5/11

In an atom the nucleus contains 2 of the 3 subatomic particles. An electron is a subatomic particle.   Carrying a negative charge, an electron orbits an atom’s nucleus and it cannot be broken down into smaller units. Protons account for most of the mass in the atom. The negative charged electrons even though they are small occupy a large volume of space outside the nucleus. The electron cloud is the group of electrons revolving around the nucleus of an atom.
